Procrastination?

What would it sound like if you had a conversation with yourself about procrastination? That would depend of course on whether or not you ever got the conversation started. Some of us (*looks sheepishly aside*) would rather NOT have that conversation.  When something makes me uncomfortable, I might make a joke about it. Not as often as I once did, because I've discovered that joking about something doesn't make it go away. Sort of like procrastinating.  "Are you kidding?" "Not kidding." "We've been trying to talk about this for weeks.: "That's you." "What about you?" "I haven't been trying to talk about it..." "There you go again..." "And so it goes..." I don't like to hear about my procrastination. Could we please talk about that some other time?" -- doug smith

Putting Things Off

On the list of skills to brag about, procrastination should be very far down. Unless -- the things we procrastinate on are the things that matter less. That's not how it usually works, though, is it? We procrastinate on things that we don't really want to do, or are afraid of doing, or find inconvenient. Usually, when we procrastinate, we shouldn't. I don't like to hear about my procrastination. Could we please talk about that some other time? -- doug smith

Procrastinate Procrastination

What are you putting off? I have had a few things lately that I've been procrastinating on because they were unpleasant or difficult. Figuring out housing questions, for instance. Identifying where, if anywhere, to relocate my business. Identifying how to increase my business capacity for more (and better paying) clients. Some things we can put off because life keeps on going and business keeps humming along. But until we grab ahold of those goals that we need to set, there is something missing. Here's the thing worth procrastinating on: procrastination. Let's put that off. Let's tackle the tough stuff that's right in front of us and leave the excuses behind. We deserve more than procrastination gives us. Let it go. -- Doug Smith
